General description

The original Honda NT 1100 / SC84 comes with progressive fork springs, where the first spring rate is too low, but the second is significantly too hard. Additionally, the second spring rate is reached quite quickly due to a sub-optimal block value. The damping in the fork is also not optimal in the series, with the fork practically springing back at you. The Wilbers solution initially uses slightly harder springs, but in the second spring rate softer, progressive springs. The block value is also optimised compared to the series. The Wilbers conversion results in significantly better responsiveness of the fork. The original shock absorber of the Honda NT1100 / SC84 also features a progressive spring with a very poor block value, meaning the rider is constantly operating in the second, also too hard, spring rate. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a progressive linkage system. This combination results in absolutely no comfort in the series setup. The Wilbers conversion uses linear springs on the shock absorber, in conjunction with optimised rebound and compression dampingn damping. This results in maximum comfort gain. The chassis geometry on the front and rear axles has been sensibly adjusted via the negative travel. The original vehicle has excessively high negative travel. For this reason, we also build the shock absorber slightly shorter than the series. However, the seat height remains the same as with the original suspension due to the adjustment of the negative travel. This benefits better handling and safe riding behaviour.
