Wilbers forkspring kit, progressive, for BMW R 80/7, type BMW 247, model year '87 (fork oil to be ordered separately), with ABE according to the application listGeneral description
Depending on the application, Wilbers offers progressive or linear forksprings, manufactured from the best and highest quality chrome-silicon steel. For touring and touring-sport recommend, we generally recommend a progressive forkspring to optimise response and increase bottoming resistance. The combination of 'Zero Friction' forksprings with the specially developed Wilbers fork oil, as well as observing the correct air chamber for the respective vehicle, is very important. If desired, individual tuning can be achieved in special cases by changing the air chamber. For motorsport applications, we recommend the very light linear chrome-silicon forksprings from Wilbers, which were co-developed by the motorsport team.
'ZERO friction' friction reduction through slide grinding:
During slide grinding, the components to be processed, such as Wilbers forksprings, are located together with a grinding medium specially adapted for this purpose in a vibrating container, the so-called trough vibrator.
The vibrations of the container generate a relative movement between the workpiece and the grinding medium, and through constant rubbing, lead to a smoothing of the componentuppersurface. At the end of the process, a fine, glossy surface is achieved.
For Wilbers forksprings, this reduction in surface roughness means a minimisation of friction = ZERO friction.
Each set of forksprings includes a recommendation for the viscosity of the fork oil and the height of the air chamber in the fork. These values have been determined by experienced Wilbers technicians and ensure optimal riding comfort and feedback at the front wheel.
Note: please order the fork oil separately.
