General description

Depending on the application, Wilbers offers progressive or linear forkfedern, made from the best and highest quality chrome-silicon steel. For touring and touring-sport use, we generally recommend a progressive fork spring to optimise response and, on the other hand, to increase bottoming resistance. The combination of "Zero Friction" fork springs with the specially developed Wilbers fork oil and observing the correct air gap for the correspondinge vehicle is very important. If desired, an individual setup can be achieved in special cases by changing the air gap.

For motorsport applications, we recommend the very light linear chrome-silicon forkfedern from Wilbers, which were co-developed by the motorsport team.

"ZERO friction" friction reduction through tumble finishing:
During tumble finishing, the componente to be processed, such as Wilbers forkfedern, are placed together with an abrasive body specially adapted for this purpose in a vibrating container, known as a trough vibrator.
The vibrations of the container generate a relative movement between the workpiece and the abrasive body, and through constant rubbing, lead to a smoothing of the componentupperfläche. At the end of processing, a fine, shiny surface is achieved.
For Wilbers forkfedern, this reduction in surface roughness means a minimisation of friction = ZERO friction.

Each set of forkfedern includes a recommendation for the viscosity of the fork oil and the height of the air gap in the fork. These values have been determined by experienced Wilbers technicians and ensure optimal riding comfort and feedback at the front wheel.
