General description

Depending on the application, Wilbers offers progressive or linear fork springs, manufactured from the best and highest quality chrome-silicon steel. For touring and sport touring, we generally recommend a progressive fork spring to optimise responsiveness and increase bottoming resistance. The combination of "Zero Friction" fork springs with the specially developed Wilbers forkoil and observing the correct air gap for the corresponding vehicle is very important. If desired, individual tuning can be achieved in special cases by changing the air gap.
For motorsport applications, we recommend Wilbers' very lightweight linear chrome-silicon fork springs, which were co-developed with the motorsport team.

"ZERO friction" friction reduction through tumble finishing:
During tumble finishing, the parts to be processed, such as Wilbers fork springs, are placed together with abrasive media specially designed for this purpose in a vibrating container, known as a trough vibrator.
The vibrations of the container generate a relative movement between the workpiece and the abrasive media, leading to a smoothing of the componentupper surface through constant rubbing. At the end of the process, a fine, glossy surface is achieved.
For Wilbers fork springs, this reduction in surface roughness means a minimisation of friction = ZERO friction.

Each set of fork springs includes a recommendation for the viscosity of the forkoil and the air gap height in the fork. These values have been determined by experienced Wilbers technicians and ensure optimal riding comfort and feedback at the front wheel.
