General description

Depending on the application, Wilbers offers progressive or linear fork springs, manufactured from the best and highest quality chrome-silicon steel. For touring and touring-sport applications, we usually recommend a progressive fork spring to optimise response and, on the other hand, to increase bottoming-out reserves. The combination of "Zero Friction" fork springs with the specially developed Wilbers fork oil and observing the correct air gap for the corresponding vehicle is very important. If desired, individual tuning can be achieved in special cases by changing the air gap.
For motorsport applications, we recommend Wilbers' very lightweight linear chrome-silicon fork springs, which were co-developed by the motorsport team.

"ZERO friction" friction reduction through tumble finishing:
During tumble finishing, the component to be processed, such as Wilbers fork springs, are placed together with an abrasive media specially tailored for this purpose in a vibrating container, known as a trough vibrator.
The vibrations of the container create a relative movement between the workpiece and the abrasive media, leading to a smoothing of the workpiece upperface through constant rubbing. The result of the process is a fine, shiny surface.
For Wilbers fork springs, this reduction in surface roughness means minimised friction = ZERO friction.

Each set of fork springs includes a recommendation regarding the viscosity of the fork oil and the height of the air gap in the fork. These values have been determined by experienced Wilbers technicians and ensure optimal riding comfort and feedback at the front wheel.
