General Description

Depending on the application, Wilbers offers progressive or linear fork springs, manufactured from the best and highest quality chrome-silicon steel. For touring and sport touring, we generally recommend a progressive fork spring to optimise responsiveness and, on the other hand, to increase bottoming resistance. Crucial is the combination of the 'Zero Friction' fork springs with the specially developed Wilbers fork oil, as well as observing the correct air gap for the corresponding respective vehicle. If desired, individual tuning can be achieved in special cases by changing the air gap.
For motorsport applications, we recommend the very light linear chrome-silicon fork springs from Wilbers, which were co-developed by the Motorsport Team.

"ZERO friction" friction reduction through vibratory finishing:
During vibratory finishing, the component parts to be processed, such as Wilbers fork springs, are placed together with an abrasive media specially adapted for this purpose in a vibrating container, known as a trough vibrator.
The vibrations of the container generate a relative movement between the workpiece and the abrasive media, and through constant rubbing, lead to a smoothing of the component part upper surface. At the end of the process, a fine, shiny surface is achieved.
For Wilbers fork springs, this reduction in surface roughness means a minimisation of friction = ZERO friction.

Each set of fork springs includes a recommendation for the viscosity viscosity of the fork oil and the air gap height in the fork. These values have been determined by experienced Wilbers technicians and ensure optimal riding comfort and feedback to the front wheel rider.
