General description

The carbon frame cover for the BMW R 1300 GS not only gives your motorcycle a unique, sporty look but also simultaneously protects the frame from damage. The use of carbon allows for a lightweight yet robust construction. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that carbon does not conduct heat as quickly as metal. This results in a lower surface temperature on the frame and thus increased riding comfort for the rider's leg.

The name Ilmberger stands for the highest quality and innovation in carbon manufacturing. Every part is produced in our own facility, using prepreg specifically developed for Ilmberger as the base material. This is processed in a complex autoclave procedure, offering numerous advantages.

Prepreg, a pre-impregnated carbon fabric, is characterised by an even resin distribution with a high fibre volume content. This leads to maximum strength and increases the flexibility of the component components. Processing in an autoclave, a high-pressure oven operating under controlled temperature and pressure conditions, ensures perfect, uniform curing and a flawless surface. This method prevents air pockets in the material and guarantees consistently high quality of the parts.

Our carbon parts are laminated with great experience and care by hand, allowing for consistent fibre alignment without distortion. After curing in the autoclave, the edges of the parts are precisely cut by robot to ensure a perfect fit and the highest quality.

A globally unique step in Ilmberger's production is the complete plastic powder coating of all carbon parts. This coating not only protects the parts from environmental influences but also gives them an incomparable depth effect. No other carbon manufacturer offers this type of sealing, which prevents the parts from ageing and significantly extends their service life. The final clear coat on this component component is silk matt and provides a perfect, smooth surface that further accentuates the luxurious, sporty look of our carbon parts. Every part that leaves our production is a masterpiece of engineering and design, meeting the highest standards.
