General description

The sprocket cover is one of the most underestimated components on the entire motorcycle. Centrally mounted on the motorcycle, it surrounds the engine sprocket and does more than it might seem at first glance. It protects the engine and many other components from flying chain grease during the ride. This dirt is particularly stubborn and is difficult to remove from the soft surface of the original part. A hard surface, such as that found in high-quality carbon, is better suited here.
But the component can exploit its full potential not only technically but also visually. Installed in just a few minutes, the premium quality of the motorcycle is enormously enhanced. To achieve a particularly harmonious overall appearance, the fibre layers are expertly laid into the mould and aligned with each other. This allows the carbon part to blend perfectly with the surrounding shapes of the motorcycle. The more of our parts that are installed and combined, the more stunning the overall result.
The Ilmberger name stands for the highest quality and innovation in carbon manufacturing. Each part is produced in our own facility, where we rely on prepreg developed specifically for Ilmberger as the base material. This is processed in a complex autoclave procedure, which offers numerous advantages.
Prepreg, a pre-impregnated carbon fabric, is characterised by uniform resin distribution, combined with a high fibre volume content. This leads to maximum strength and increases the flexibility of the components. Processing in an autoclave, a high-pressure oven that operates under controlled temperature and pressure conditions, ensures perfect, uniform curing and a flawless surface. This method prevents air pockets in the material and guarantees consistently high quality of the parts.
Our carbon parts are hand-laminated with great experience and care, allowing for consistent fibre alignment without distortion. After curing in the autoclave, the edges of the parts are precisely robot-cut to ensure a perfect fit and the highest quality.
A globally unique step in Ilmberger's production is the complete plastic powder coating of all carbon parts. This coating not only protects the parts from environmental influences but also gives them an incomparable deep effect. No other carbon manufacturer offers this type of sealing, which prevents the ageing of the parts and significantly extends their service life. The final clear lacquer layer on this component is high-gloss, providing a perfect, smooth surface that further accentuates the luxurious-sporty look of our carbon parts. Every part that leaves our production is a masterpiece of engineering and design, meeting the highest standards.
