The carbon lower engine guard for the BMW R1200GS replaces the original component using the original mounting points. The focus is on weight savings (typically approx. 70% savings compared to the original component) and increased rigidity. The carbon part was manufactured entirely from prepreg (see FAQ) material in an autoclave according to the latest guidelines and then, as is customary for us, coated with a clear plastic finish to protect against environmental influences. This plastic coating far surpasses the usual clear lacquer coating in terms of protective effect, scratch resistance, and durability.
