General Description

The ignition lock cover for the BMW M 1000 XR is an elegant carbon part that perfectly integrates into the rider's field of vision. It gives your motorcycle an individual touch and emphasizes the machine's sporty character. Made from high-quality carbon, the cover is characterised by lightness and robustness. The Ilmberger name stands for the highest quality and innovation in carbon manufacturing. Every part is produced in our own facility, where we use prepreg developed specifically for Ilmberger as the base material. This is processed in a complex autoclave procedure, offering numerous advantages.
Prepreg, a pre-impregnated carbon fabric, is characterised by a uniform resin distribution with a high fibre volume content. This leads to maximum strength and increases the flexibility of the components. Processing in an autoclave, a high-pressure oven operating under controlled temperature and pressure conditions, ensures perfect, uniform curing and a flawless surface. This method prevents air inclusions in the material and guarantees consistent high quality of the parts.
Our carbon parts are laminated by hand with great experience and care, allowing for consistent fibre alignment without distortion. After curing in the autoclave, the edges of the parts are precisely cut by robot to ensure a perfect fit and the highest quality.
A globally unique step in Ilmberger's production is the complete plastic powder coating of all carbon parts. This coating not only protects the parts from environmental influences but also gives them an unparalleled depth effect. No other carbon manufacturer offers this type of sealing, which prevents parts from ageing and significantly extends their service life. The final clear coat on this component is high-gloss, providing a perfect, smooth surface that further accentuates the luxurious-sporty look of our carbon parts. Every part leaving our production is a masterpiece of engineering and design, meeting the highest standards.
