The M1000RR's front fender is much more than just a fender. It elegantly combines the function of three previous components into one single unit. The integrated air ducts constantly supply fresh air to the brake calipers while riding, to reduce the risk of brake fade. Tested under the toughest conditions, it contributes to success in various racing series around the world. For example, in 2023, it helped the Tecmas Stock Team achieve a commanding victory at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.By extending the side surfaces towards rear, not only is aerodynamic drag reduced while riding, but the sensitive fork tubes are also reliably protected from stone chips for the first time.
The focus is on weight reduction (typically a saving of approx. 70% compared to the original component) and increased rigidity. The carbon part was manufactured entirely from prepreg (see FAQ) material in an autoclave according to the latest guidelines and, as is customary for us, subsequently coated with a clear plastic finish to protect against environmental influences. This plastic finish significantly surpasses the usual clear lacquer coating in terms of protective effect, scratch resistance, and durability. However, the coating not only excels technically but also significantly enhances the three-dimensional effect of the carbon structure.
