The rear carbon exhaust heat shield for the BMW R1200GS (LC) replaces the original component using the original mounting points. The focus is on weight savings (typically around 70% saving compared to the original component) and increased rigidity. For this thermally highly stressed carbon part, we use special high-temperature prepreg (see FAQ) to prevent discolouration and yellowing. The carbon part was manufactured entirely from prepreg (see FAQ) material in an autoclave according to the latest guidelines and then, as is customary for us, coated with a clear plastic finish to protect against environmental influences. This plastic finish enormously surpasses the usual clear lacquer coating in terms of protective effect, scratch resistance, and durability.
