The carbon engine cover is applied directly to the engine. It covers it and attracts attention. But the engine cover is not only visually appealing. Thanks to the high surface quality of Ilmberger Carbon, the engine cover also withstands intensive use over a long period. Thus, neither after countless long tours nor during daily use of the motorcycle are there any unpleasant wear marks on the rough cast surface of the engine. To perfect the high-quality impression, the engine cover not only runs along the vertical engine strut, where the leg rubs, but also extends far upwards, where it disappears under the dense side fairing. This makes it difficult to see from the outside where the engine fairing begins and where it ends. Installed in just a few minutes, the value of the motorcycle is enormously increased. To achieve a particularly harmonious overall appearance, the fibre layers are expertly laid into the mould and aligned. This ensures the carbon part blends perfectly with the surrounding shapes of the motorcycle. The more of our parts are installed and combined, the more overwhelming the result. For our carbon, we exclusively use prepreg fabric produced specifically for this purpose, which is also used in a similar form in Formula 1 and aerospace. The material, elaborately laminated by hand and cured in several stages in an autoclave, impresses not only with a unique appearance but also with its unique technical properties. With the same volume, it has three times the specific stiffness of steel and, at the same time, due to its particularly low density, only a fraction of its weight. These properties are particularly pronounced in our products due to the high fibre volume content. To optimally protect this high-quality material from environmental influences of all kinds, we are the only carbon manufacturer worldwide to use a specially developed plastic coating on all surfaces. In combination with our clear lacquer, this provides an unprecedented and unique depth effect, which particularly highlights the high quality of the material. To ensure that not only riding but also fitting is a pleasure, we use only the original mounting points for this part.
