Rivet Link:Nowadays, most motorcycles are supplied with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, and thus on heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on Rivet Links:
There are two different versions of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. For both types, special tools are required for proper riveting!
While the hollow rivet pins are flared with a mandrel after fitting the outer plate for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the correct and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the master link, you will no longer see any difference from the surrounding chainng links.
