Nowadays, most motorcycles are supplied with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with rubber rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, meaning heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent insoluble riveting is the safer option.All ENUMA® o-ring and Quadra-X-Ring chains designed for high-performance motorcycles also include the precisely matching rivet link for the chain.
Note:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market - with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting for both types!
While hollow rivet pins are flared with a mandrel after the outer plate is applied for security, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the link, you will no longer see any difference compared to the surrounding chain links.
ENUMA® DEX chains are exclusively supplied with hollow rivet links. All other chains include solid rivet links.
