Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (non-sealed or sealed with O-rings) that are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, specifically for heavily stressed and fast-running chainn. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow pins or solid pins. Special tools are required for the correct riveting of both types!
While hollow rivet pins are splayed out with a drift after fitting the outer plate for security, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the proper and professional riveting of the connecting link's solid pins, you will no longer see any difference compared to the surrounding chainngliedern.
