Rivet Link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently and securely closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for highly stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip-type master link, proper, permanent, and inseparable riveting is the safer option.
Note on Rivet Links:
There are two different versions of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. For both types, special tools are required for correct riveting!
While hollow rivet pins are flared out with a punch for security after the outer plate is fitted, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the master link, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
