Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) that are permanently and securely closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip-type link, proper permanent insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. For both types, special tools are required for proper riveting!
While hollow rivet pins are flared out with a punch after fitting the outer plate for security, the tool simply flattens the head for solid rivet pins. After the solid rivet pins of the connecting link have been properly and professionally riveted, you will no longer notice any difference compared to the surrounding chains.
