Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now supplied with endless chains (non-sealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, meaning highly stressed and fast-running chains. Unlike the clip link mentioned previously, proper, permanent, non-detachable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting of both types! While hollow rivet pins are flared with a mandrel after fitting the outer plate for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the link, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
