Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (non-sealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for heavily loaded and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip-type connecting link, proper, permanent, non-detachable riveting is the secure option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different versions of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting of both types!
While hollow rivet pins are flared with a drift after the outer plate has been fitted, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
