Rivet Link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (non-sealed or sealed with O-rings) that are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, meaning heavily loaded and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent inseparable riveting is the safer option.
Note on Rivet Links:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting of both types!
While hollow rivet pins are flared with a punch to secure them after fitting the outer plate, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After correct and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer see any difference compared to the surrounding chain links.
