Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now supplied with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, and thus heavily loaded and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent, inseparable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for the correct riveting of both types!
While hollow rivet pins are spread with a mandrel after the outer plate has been fitted for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the solid rivet pins of the master link have been properly and professionally riveted, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
