Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (non-sealed or sealed with rubber seals), which are permanently and securely closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for chain under high stress and running at high speeds. Unlike the clip link mentioned above, a proper, permanent, non-detachable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different designs for rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. For both types, special tools are required for proper riveting!
While hollow rivet pins are flared with a punch after the outer plate is fitted for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the solid rivet pins of the master link have been properly and professionally riveted, you will no longer see any difference compared to the surrounding chain links.
