Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, meaning heavily stressed and fast-running chain. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. For both types, special tools are required for proper riveting!
While hollow rivet pins are flared with a mandrel after the outer plate is fitted for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After properly and professionally riveting the solid rivet pins of the master link, you will no longer see any difference compared to the surrounding chain.
