Rivet Link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) that are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for heavily loaded and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, a proper, permanent, non-detachable riveting is the safer option.
Note on Rivet Links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting of both types!
While the hollow rivet pins are splayed out with a drift after fitting the outer plate for secure fastening, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the master link, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
