Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (sealed or unsealed with rubber O-rings), which are permanently and securely closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper, permanent, and unbreakable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different versions of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Both types require special tools for proper riveting!
While hollow rivet pins are splayed open with a punch after fitting the outer plate for securement, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the master link, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
