Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, meaning heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the clip-type connecting link mentioned above, a properly executed, permanent, insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. For proper riveting of both types, special tools are required!
While hollow rivet pins are spread with a mandrel for securing after fitting the outer plate, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer see any difference compared to the surrounding chainn links.
