Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings), which are permanently and securely closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, meaning highly stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper, permanent, and insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. For both types, special tools are required for proper riveting!
While hollow rivet pins are flared with a mandrel after fitting the outer plate for security, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the master link, you will no longer see any difference compared to the surrounding chain links.
