Rivet Link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for heavily loaded and fast-running chain. In contrast to the aforementioned clip-type link, proper, permanent, and irreversible riveting is the safer option.
Note on Rivet Links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Both types require special tools for proper riveting!
While hollow rivet pins are spread with a mandrel after fitting the outer plate for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the master link, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
