Rivet link:Nowadays, most motorcycles are supplied with endless chains (non-sealed or sealed with rubber rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, and thus on heavily loaded and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip-type connecting link, a proper, permanent, non-detachable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. For both types, special tools are required for proper riveting!
While the hollow rivet pins are spread open with a punch for securing after placing the outer plate, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer see any difference to the surrounding chain links.
