Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed with a rivet link ex-works. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for heavily stressed and fast-running chainn. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent, inseparable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting for both types!
While hollow rivet pins are spread with a mandrel after fitting the outer plate for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After correctly and professionally riveting the solid rivet pins of the master link, you will no longer see any difference to the surrounding chainngliedern.
