Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently and securely closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, and thus on heavily stressed and fast-running chain. In contrast to the aforementioned clip-type connecting link, a proper, permanent, non-detachable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different versions of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Both types require special tools for proper riveting!
While hollow rivet pins are splayed open with a punch after fitting the outer plate for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer notice any difference to the surrounding chain links.
