Rivet Link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with rubber O-rings) which are permanently and securely closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, thus for heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, a proper, permanent, non-detachable riveting is the safer option.
Note on Rivet Links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for the proper riveting of both types!
While hollow rivet pins are flared with a punch after fitting the outer plate for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the correct and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
