General Description

Electronic full-throttle upshifts, seamless acceleration – whether for racing motorcycles, streetn motorcycles, drag bikes, go-karts, cross-karts – essentially anything with a sequential transmission. The PQ8 does not trigger an error message on engines with fuel injection. The PQ8 has been developed with the latest technology and is continuously optimised through its use in global racing series.

Features:
- Standalone system: no additional accessories are required.
- Easy to revert/reverse installation.
- Supplied with a universal shift rod (6 mm internal thread). This may need to be shortened to the correct length depending on the footresten system used. Other shift rods of different lengths are available; see accessories.
- Built on advanced GP technology and fully computer-controlled using a 20 MHz CPU. Programming via a 2 tip switch system.
- Compu Shift calculates the perfect interruption time for each individual upshift. From a selection of 500 interruption times, various engine ratios, acceleration, load, and engine speed are taken into account depending on the riding condition. The interruption time is adjustable between 40-80 milliseconds.
- Simulates stable engine operation towards the ECU during the shifting process, thus allowing for a smooth and stable upshift. This generates no error messages and does not lead to unintended leaning out or enriching of the mixture formation.
- Integrated “Smooth Shift” to reduce peak loads on the transmission and chain. Furthermore, traction loss during upshifts, as with MotoGP quickshifters, is minimised. During the shifting process, all cylinders are simultaneously shut off, and traction is re-engaged via a computer-controlled sequence, in conjunction with Compu Shift.
- Solid, waterproof housing and high-quality wiring harness. The circuit board is fully potted and equipped with a 26-pin aviation-standard connector.
- Very high-quality sensor based on strain gauge technology.
- Sensor works on push and pull, therefore can also be used for reverse shifting.
- All functions can be easily and problem-free programmed directly at the racetrack or on tour, without additional devices, using two buttons and the LED display.
- Supplied with ready-to-use connectors for Denso and Mitsubishi ignition coils, which are used in most Japanese sports motorcycles, as well as Triumph and KTM vehicles [For KTM Superduke R 2008, Beru ignition coils are installed; please use the wiring harness for Ducati 749 here]. For Ducati 748-998, 749-1198, Aprilia RSV 4, MV Agusta 2 and 4 ignition coils, correspondinge wiring harnesses are available through the Cordona distribution network. For other ignition coil systems, installation is not “plug and play” but remains uncomplicated.
- For vehicles with coil-on-plug ignition coils, the +12V power supply comes from the ignition coil via the red cable, which leads directly to the CPU of the PQ8 quickshifter. Simple installation, as additional cable installation for 12V power supply is not required.
- Automatic on/off switching controlled by speed. Fully adjustable to prevent unintended engine shutdown by shifting into neutral during idle speed.
- Audible signal generator for acoustic feedback during function test and commissioning. Very useful when installed behind fairings.
- Auto Shift, for “drag racing” only, can be selected to automatically activate the quickshifter at a specific and adjustable speed. The rider only needs to keep the shift lever preloaded between shifts. Useful in “handicap” races where the rider must stay below the “break out” time. For this, the shift RPM can be lowered to intentionally be slower in subsequent races.
- Power saving: if no input is made via the PQ8 display for 60 seconds, the electronics enter power-saving mode. A blinking dot then indicates that the system is ready. Very useful when a battery pack is used to power the quickshifter, as the majority of power consumption from the PQ8 display is eliminated.
- Made in Sweden.
