Through a targeted intervention in the engine management of the moped engine, the speed and consequently the power, performance are gently restricted to the permissible level upon reaching the respective top speed.
For newer Euro 4 vehicles, the gas injection is also influenced to avoid negatively impacting exhaust emissions and the associated fuel consumption. This is achieved by installing a CDI unit tailored to the respective vehicle. Connecting the restriction boxes is lightning-fast for most vehicles, as the plug connections are already prepared. Only with older electronic conversion kits featuring additional electronics are a few cable connections required.
Fundamentally, with every restriction – whether mechanical or electronic – care is taken to keep the installation effort and necessary vehicle modifications as low as possible.
