The catch: the standard power output is too high for a graduated licence. Is the dream over? With alpha Technik restriction kits, motorcycles of all power, performances classes become more appealing for motorcycle riders, as almost any desired model can be brought down to the required power, performance of 25 kW or 35 kW. However, special conditions apply to holders of the current A2 driving licence. The power, performances-to-weight ratio of 0.2 kW/kg and double the original power output of the series vehicle must not be exceeded.

A lot of expertise goes into developing power, performances reductions. Essential factors must be considered: on one hand, there are legal regulations such as exhaust, noise, and power, performances measurements according to the latest EC directive. On the other hand, there is the preservation of optimal rideability and homogeneous power, performances delivery as unchanged as possible. Once all requirements are met, a component certificate (Teilegutachten) is issued by the technical service. Until then, a significant development and measurement effort goes into these sometimes inconspicuous throttle restrictors and throttle stop limiters.

25 kW restrictions:
Before the new driving licence regulation, which came into force in spring 2013, new licence holders had to make do with 25 kW for 2 years. Due to its extensive product range, alpha Technik still offers numerous 25 kW restriction kits today, which can therefore be used by A2 driving licence holders. All 25 kW restrictions work mechanically; no electronic intervention is necessary. The power, performances reduction is achieved by installing specially designed restrictor plates in the intake tract or by using throttle stop limiters.
