General Description

Depending on the application, Wilbers offers progressive or linear fork springs, manufactured from the best and highest quality chrome-silicon steel. For touring and sport touring, we generally recommend a progressive fork spring to optimise response and, on the other hand, to increase bottoming-out reserves. The combination of "Zero Friction" fork springs with the specially developed Wilbers forkoil and observing the correct air gap for the correspondinge vehicle is very important. If desired, individual tuning can be achieved in special cases by changing the air gap.
For motorsport applications, we recommend the very light linear chrome-silicon fork springs from Wilbers, which were co-developed with the motorsport team.

"ZERO friction" friction reduction through vibratory finishing:
During vibratory finishing, the componente to be processed, such as Wilbers fork springs, are located together with an abrasive body specially designed for this purpose in a vibrating container, known as a vibratory trough machine.
The vibrations of the container create a relative movement between the workpiece and the abrasive body, and the constant rubbing together leads to a smoothing of the componentuppersurface. At the end of the process, a fine, shiny surface is achieved.
For Wilbers fork springs, this reduction in surface roughness means a minimisation of friction = ZERO friction.

Each set of fork springs comes with a recommendation for the viscosity of the forkoil and the height of the air gap in the fork. These values have been determined by experienced Wilbers technicians and ensure optimal riding comfort and feedback at the front wheel.
