Rivet Master Link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) that are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet master link. A rivet master link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for highly stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip-type master link, proper, permanent, and inseparable riveting is the safer option.
Note on Rivet Master Links:
There are two different types of rivet master links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting for both types!
While the hollow rivet pins are flared with a mandrel after fitting the outer plate for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the master link, you will no longer see any difference compared to the surrounding chain links.
