Clip Master Link:The simplest type is the conventional clip master link, sometimes also called a spring link. Installation is very simple for unsealed standard chains, as only a clip is pushed into the designated groove of the master link pin for securing. Such clip master links are primarily found on mopeds and light motorcycles. They are also commonly fitted as standard on "Supermoto" or some off-road models.
For safety reasons, a clip master link should only be used in street operation on lower-powered motorcycles that are not ridden at high speeds.
Contrary to recommendations – purely for time-saving reasons – simple clip master links are usually also used in racing. This is explainable by the fact that the required effort for a potential change of a closed chain (swingarm removal, riveting, etc.) during race operation is too extensive.
