Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now supplied with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) that are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, thus heavily stressed and fast-running chain. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent, inseparable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different designs of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for the correct riveting of both types!
While hollow rivet pins are spread with a mandrel after fitting the outer plate for securing, the tool simply flattens the head for solid rivet pins. After the proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer notice any difference compared to the surrounding chainngliedern.
