Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (non-sealed or sealed with rubber rings) that are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, and thus on heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper, permanent, non-detachable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. For both types, special tools are required for proper riveting!
While the hollow rivet pins are splayed open with a punch for security after fitting the outer plate, the tool simply flattens the head for solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
