Rivet Link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) that are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, which means heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper, permanent, insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting for both types! While hollow rivet pins are spread with a mandrel after the outer plate is fitted for security, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After correct and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the link, you will no longer see any difference to the surrounding chain links.
