Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, and thus on heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different versions of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for correct riveting for both types! While hollow rivet pins are spread with a mandrel after the outer plate is fitted for security, the tool simply flattens the head for solid rivet pins. After the solid rivet pins of the master link have been correctly and professionally riveted, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
