Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed with a rivet link at the factory. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for heavily loaded and fast-running chainn. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper, permanent, insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting of both types!
While hollow rivet pins are spread with a mandrel after the outer plate is fitted for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After correctly and professionally riveting the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer see any difference compared to the surrounding chainngliedern.
