Fork oils account for a large part of the damping in the front fork. Depending on the system, the oil is forced through simple bores or adjustable valves during compression and rebound. The oil's viscosity is responsible for how much and how quickly the oil flows through the valves, thereby determining the fork response and overall damping behaviour.
