Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now supplied with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed with a rivet link at the factory. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, and thus on heavily stressed and fast-running chainn. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent, inseparable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting for both types!
While hollow rivet pins are splayed out with a punch after the outer plate is fitted for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the solid rivet pins of the connecting link have been properly and professionally riveted, you will no longer see any difference compared to the surrounding chainngliedern.
