Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, meaning heavily stressed and fast-running chainn. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different versions of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. For both types, special tools are required for proper riveting!
While hollow rivet pins are splayed out with a punch after the outer plate is applied for securing, the tool simply flattens the head for solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer see any difference to the surrounding chainngliedern.
