Clip link EK 50General description
Clip link:The simplest type is the conventional clip link, sometimes also called a spring. Installation is very simple with non-sealed standard chains, as only a clip is pushed into the designated groove of the master link rivet pins for security. Such clip links are predominantly found on small and light motorcycles. They are also occasionally installed as standard on "Super-Moto" or some off-road models.
For safety reasons, however, a clip link should only be used in street operation on lower-powered motorcycles that are not ridden at high speeds.
Contrary to recommendations – purely for time reasons – simple clip links are also mostly used in racing. This is understandable, as the required amount of work for a possible replacement of a closed chain (swingarm removal, riveting, etc.) would be too extensive during race operation.
