Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now supplied with endless chains (sealed or unsealed with O-rings) that are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for highly stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper, permanent, and unbreakable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links available on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for the correct riveting of both types!
While hollow rivet pins are splayed out with a punch after the outer plate is fitted for securing, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the solid rivet pins of the connecting link have been properly and professionally riveted, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chaining links.
