Rivet link:Nowadays, most motorcycles are supplied with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with rubber rings), which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, and thus for heavily stressed and fast-running chainn. Unlike the aforementioned clip-type master link, proper, permanent, and inseparable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for the proper riveting of both types!
With hollow rivet pins, the outer plate is fitted and the pin is then spread with a mandrel for security, whereas with solid rivet pins, the tool simply flattens the head. Once the solid rivet pins of the master link have been correctly and professionally riveted, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chainngliedern.
